Operating since 1978 (yes – pre-dating the club itself), the Sailing School was originally operated by the Ontario Sailing Association until 1993 when NSC fully took over the operations. Originally operating out of an Ontario Sailing trailer on the site, the sailing school eventually took occupancy of what was our clubhouse (trailer) when we built the clubhouse you see today.

As Colin Nicholson recalls to Michael McGoldrick in the September 1992 edition of the Telltale, “by 1983 the club had also acquired the structure which currently [in 1992] houses the sailing school. This building used to be a portable classroom, and it served as a quasi-permenant clubhouse until 1990. Colin vividly remembers going to the bank to make the necessary arrangements to purchase the structure. He is not sure, but thinks the cost of the portable classroom was about $11,000 installed.”
