It’s 2019 – that means its our club’s 40th Birthday! Come start the celebrations with us at this year’s Sailpast – 40 Years in 40 Hours
Between July 5 – 7, we have a whole host of events, activities, and ceremonies to help you party join in the 40th Anniversary Sailpast.
What is Sailpast?
Great question – Like many things in sailing, the sail-past tradition has it’s roots in the Royal Navy. On special occasions, fleets would be reviewed by the Admiral while they “sailed past“.
This year at NSC, Sailpast is a weekend of fun, but the tradition-based-sailing part is a quick Saturday sail with a stop on water to salute the Commodore and then back to the harbour for “refreshments and socializing” (code for food and drinks).
Additionally, if you’ve been a member at NSC for “some-number-of-years-divisible-by-ten”, you’ll also be invited to receive a commemorative, customized, NSC burgee.
Who should come?
Everyone. Yes, everyone. While we will close the clubhouse so to the public for this event, we want you to bring both your member and non-member friends! That neighbour who you keep saying you’ll take sailing one day? This is that day!

With the ambitious theme of 40 years in 40 hours, we have 40 hours with of activities for you to join in on – the excuse “I’m busy between 12:00 and 3:00” doesn’t work this year – you can come and go at any time with the whole family – there’s something for everyone!
Check out the schedule of events below for details on everything. Some things may get tweaked and moved here and there, but we wanted to lay it all out as soon as possible;
